Rikhardinkatu 2 dates from 1891 and was designed by architect Carl Rupert Rosenberg. Kasarmikatu 42 was designed by professor J.S. Sirén and completed in 1933. Sirén also designed the Finnish Parliament House.

Between 2018 and 2023, the buildings underwent an extensive renovation that included a full pipe renovation (linjasaneeraus) and a complete overhaul of the building's technical systems. The property has been awarded a BREEAM In-Use Very Good certification.
